Catoptromancy

Catoptromancy.jpg
Catoptromancy, also known as captromancy or enoptromancy, is a form of divination Thaumaturgy using a mirror or other reflective surfaces, such as reflective pools, glass plates or highly polished metals. In some cases the divination involves a combination of these items used together to strengthen the ability of the seer.

In many cases, over time, specific pools or items used as foci may become imbued with a degree of power that can create an enduring divination effect. This was the case with the Thanatoic Table, found in Sven Thofelt’s apartment in 1936.

The table was able to create a separate reflected space similar to that of the apartment in which it resided. This allowed an observer to use this pocket space to observe the normal inhabited space when the correct incantations were spoken.
